YTL Corporation managing director, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Francis Yeoh, has been featured in this month's edition of Malaysia Tatler in its cover story. Showcasing some of Malaysia's most important and influential people, the article by the magazine's style editor, Ngim Siew Lee, lists Yeoh under the title "Power of Foundation" together with Robert Kuok for "Fiscal Power", Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan for "Power of Communications" and Tan Sri Dato' Dr Lin See Yan for "Brain Power".

When asked for his comment on the article, Yeoh replied, "Well, I am honoured to be listed amongst Malaysia’s 'powerful and glorious'. What is apt is that I am listed under the Power of Foundation. Once again, I reiterate that it is on the foundation of God, our Father in Heaven, that YTL is built and it is on His rock that I can stand on principles whilst on bended knees."

Power of Foundation 

It takes a man with vision and fervour like Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Francis Yeoh to create a thriving community within different pocketed areas. He is driven by a desire to not have things destroyed because “people who preserve the environment are people who care.” And he succeeds in doing what is necessary. The managing director of YTL Corporation Berhad rescued Pangkor Laut from possible destruction had it been sold to a business opportunist. He developed the award-winning Pangkor Laut Resort in 1985, preserving its 100-million-year-old forests and offering guests the option of sleeping right above the clear blue waters. Similarly with Bukit Bintang Street. What used to be a lived-in area with a 100-year-old history was turning derelict. This heroic property developer invested more than RM250 million to create Bintang Walk as our answer to the Champs Elysees in Paris.
