New Louis Vuitton store in Starhill Gallery: 'Awesome!'

Louis Vuitton new flagship store at Starhill Gallery - First street front store in Malaysia with a magnificent facade

When the new Louis Vuitton flagship store at Starhill Gallery was unveiled today, it was obvious that Louis Vuitton had spared no expense in creating the most beautiful store in the world. A magnificent facade for Malaysia's first street front store now greet passers-by along Bintang Walk, Kuala Lumpur's ultimate "fashion walk".

An extravagant party at the flagship store saw the who's who of trendsetters and personalities congregate to witness the momentous 'illumination' of the facade to mark the opening.

Malaysia's pop princess, Datin Siti Nurhaliza?joined YTL chief Tan Sri (Dr) Francis Yeoh, president of Louis Vuitton Asia Pacific Francois Delage and Louis Vuitton Malaysia's Kathy Lam to cut the ribbon before they made a joyous toast to the brand new store.

After the official opening, the launch party at the flagship store adjourned to the Platinum Plus Lounge on the Relish Floor of Starhill Gallery where the LV-clad, LV bag-toting partygoers were treated to an exclusive showcase performance by Siti Nurhaliza.

Earlier in the day, Lam and Delage hosted the media to several sessions to get them acquainted with the new flagship store. She said the street front store is a tribute to Louis Vuitton's Malaysian customers.
  
The Kuala Lumpur flagship store ranks on the top as the store with the highest sale per transaction, which means every customer in LV Kuala Lumpur buys more items than anywhere else.

"In Kuala Lumpur, 80% of Louis Vuitton's customers are local, not tourists," she revealed. "We owe it to the customers for their support in these 21 years. We owe it to them to have this beautiful store for them," Lam added.


   
EXCLUSIVE LUXURY: The very unique room for 'Very Important Customers'.

With a much larger retail area of 6,000 sq ft and three-level split platforms, the store exudes the charm as a haven of luxury. Such is the gratitude for these loyal customers that LV has taken a step further to ensure their comfort. Louis Vuitton's top clients and celebrity guests can look forward to a truly decadent shopping experience at the boutique, because the boutique has a VIC Room, for "Very Important Customers". The VIC Room in Kuala Lumpur is the only VIC Room in the world that is equipped with a kitchenette and even a washroom.

Lam coined the moniker "Icon within an Icon" for the store, in recognition of Starhill Gallery, which now shines brighter with the glowing luminance of the stunning facade. The facade features an intricate duplication of the iconic Monogram motif that is backlit by soft glowing LED panels and covered with super clear glass, set on a limestone base and upper stainless steel frame.

During the media event, Delage said he is very happy to come back to "one of the nicest store in Asia" and extended his thanks to YTL Group managing director Tan Sri (Dr) Francis Yeoh, adding: "without Francis, we would never have been able to make such a beautiful store."

Yeoh who was also present at the media event, said YTL had, in 1999, persuaded the Government not to have duties on luxury goods in an effort to make Kuala Lumpur an exciting duty free shopping paradise.
 
"I'm very glad that Louis Vuitton has made the investment to put the most beautiful boutique in the world here in Starhill Gallery. It simply shows LV's commitment in making Kuala Lumpur a booming retail hub," he said.

"This should also remove the perception that Kuala Lumpur shops only stock products that are two seasons late, now LV's KL flagship store has items that are not even found in LV boutiques in other leading cities!" he added.

Yeoh's observation rings true, with the newest charm in the LV collection, the crafted Wau, a Malaysian kite, to commemorate the opening of the flagship store and mark the brand's 21st anniversary in Malaysia. Limited to only 15 pieces, the charm that symbolises fun and freedom has exclusivity for one month in Malaysia but all pieces have all been booked.

Also making a debut in Kuala Lumpur's LV flagship store is the Inheritance line's Goodyear shoe. The hand-sewn shoes are only sold in selected boutiques - in Hong Kong, Korea, Beijing, and now in Kuala Lumpur.

When asked what she thinks of the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Kathy Lam smiled and replied, "It's awesome!" Many of the LV fans and friends at the launch event who were asked the same question gave the same answer. Indeed, "awesome" seems to be an apt description.
