KUALA LUMPUR: The Oscars will be beamed live into our homes next week from Los Angeles. And this year a Malaysian will be rubbing shoulders with Hollywood elite.

Local girl Linda Onn and Hong Kong-based Channel V veejay Dominic Lau will be hosting the Star Movies Red Carpet show live.

The excited Onn said she’s doing her homework, reading up on interviews on the famous red carpet and about the Academy of Motion Picture Science awards.

She’s also looking forward to meeting Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez.

VJ Lau said he’s gathering information about nominees and categories. Lau said he wants to meet Julia Roberts, Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp.

Onn will be wearing an East-meets-West outfit by Indonesian designer Jovian Mandagie.

Star Movies and Astro will kick off the event with KL Red Carpet Live from the "Breakfast With The Stars 2007" at JW Marriott Hotel.

Local stars like Camelia, Fauziah Latiff and Erra Fazira will take part in the event. This show will be hosted by Channel V VJs Joey and Marion, together with ERA.fm DJ Nana and entertainment host Zainal Alam Kadir.

Viewers can catch the KL Red Carpet Live on Feb 26 at 8am, followed by the 79th Annual Academy Awards and Star Movies Red Carpet at 9am. The repeat will be at 7pm.

KUALA LUMPUR: Local TV host and deejay Linda Onn will be working her magic at the 79th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.  

Onn will co-host Star Movies’ own production Live from the Red Carpet programme alongside Channel [V]’s VJ Dominic Lau. The programme will be aired on Star Movies (Astro Channel 42) at 8pm on Monday.

“I was really surprised when I was told about it. It’s really exciting as this is a step forward in my career and a lifetime experience.  

“I will have a chance to meet some of the most talented people in the industry,” said Linda at an interview here yesterday. 

Last year, Maya Karin and Terrence Yin had the job of interviewing the Oscar glitterati on the red carpet. 

In order to do a good job, Linda has been preparing for the show by surfing the Internet on the Oscars, as well as rehearsing her presentation. 

“I've been spending a lot of time doing as much research in order to know what questions to ask the nominees,” said Linda, who will be flying off to Los Angeles tomorrow. Linda and Dominic are looking forward to interviewing top celebrities, producers and directors. 

“I hope to meet Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez,” said Linda. 

Dominic chipped in: “I am hoping to interview director Martin Scorsese, Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp. Martin has been nominated for his crime drama The Departed and I hope he wins. 

“I would also like to meet Julia Roberts,” said Lau who hosts Channel [V]'s Remote Control, Popparazzi and The Ticket. 

Linda will be wearing a black and white modern kebaya created by Indonesian designer Jovian Mandagie, while Dominic will be clad in an Armani tuxedo. 

The 79th Annual Academy Awards will be aired live at 9.30am on Star Movies on Feb 26. The repeat starts from 7pm the same night.
