Music bloomed at the Singapore Botanic Gardens yesterday, where a crowd of about 12,000 people were serenaded by world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.
The maestro, on tour in Asia, made a special stop in the Republic for the YTL Concert Of Celebration 2010. Audience members were picked via public ballot last month.
The event was staged by YTL Corporation, one of Malaysia's largest companies. It was Bocelli's first appearance here since 2004.
Accompanied by the Singapore Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonic Chamber Choir, he was backed by guest performers, such as Australian singer Delta Goodrem, during the two-hour event.
Bocelli performed mainly classical works like Brindisi from La Traviata and hits like Con Te Partiro.††
