YTL's ERL Launch Enhanced KL TravelPass With Prasarana

Kuala Lumpur, August 14, 2017

YTL's Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) launched the enhanced KL TravelPass, an integrated transport ticket which offers a convenient solution to travellers looking for a seamless travel experience on the rail network in Kuala Lumpur.

The KL TravelPass is an integrated transport card that comes with a KLIA Ekspres airport transfer (available one-way or return) and 2-day unlimited rides on RapidKL rail services (LRT, MRT and KL Monorail lines). The card is priced at RM70 for single trip and RM115 for return trips and is available for sale at KLIA Ekspres Ticket Counters in KLIA, KLIA2 and Departure Hall, KL Sentral.

Travellers also have the option to load cash onto the KL TravelPass to enjoy extended benefits of travelling on RapidKL buses and KTM Komuter trains. ERL also have plans to further improve the KL TravelPass in the future by inclusing other transport providers.

The KL TravelPass was launched by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Dato' Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri. Also present at the launch event was Executive Chairman of ERL, Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh; CEO of Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat, Azharuddin Mat Sah; CEO of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, Dato' Ir. Zohari Sulaiman and CEO of ERL, Pn Noormah Mohd Noor.

In her speech, Dato' Sri Hajah Nancy said collaboration between rail operators can produce unique and innovative products that will add value to their common markets. SPAD, as a regulating and coordinating body, will support such collaborative efforts to help the operators remain sustainable.

Whilst Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi said that "Our value proposition of seamless, pleasant and convenient journey from KLIA to the city of Kuala Lumpur made our services very popular both among tourists and fellow Malaysians. The KL TravelPass was developed to increase our customer base by targeting the untapped inbound travellers visiting Kuala Lumpur, similar to the Oyster Card in London and Octopus Card in Hong Kong.

"This will also promote tourist attractions not only in the city but also those in the Klang Valley because of Prasarana's public transport system network," he added.

The collaboration between ERL and Prasarana was the result of a recent Ridership Workshop organised by SPAD among rail operators to encourage the public to use the rail network and increase passenger ridership. The Government aims to achieve a 40% modal share on public transportation by 2030.
