Trained by seven Girl Guide Trainers on the island, she was then officially installed by GGAM Chief Commissioner, Dato Yeoh Soo Keng.

To better understand the biodiversity of the island, the Patron of GGAM, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah led the GGAM team in a visit to the Nature Conservation Centre on the Island Resort.

YTL Hotel conservation director Justin Juhun guided the visit and shared about the fauna and flora of the Island Resort and about the rescue and conservation work being done on the island.

The group also visited four endangered turtles which were rescued and nursed back to health and took part in the release ceremony of the first turtle back to sea by GGAM President, Dato Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail and GGAM Chief Commissioner, Dato Yeoh Soo Keng.

The Girl Guides Association Malaysia is known as an association that believes in the Sustainable Developmemt Goals (SDG) and are very passionate in conservation of nature and endangered species in line with SDG 14 - to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, sea and marine resources for sustainable development and SDG 15 - to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land regradation and halt biodiversity loss.

Pangkor Laut Resort was chosen as GGAM's brainstorming retreat location due to the island's natural habitats and their various initiatives in both restoring and protecting terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

In 2021, Pangkor Laut Resort established a Nature Conservation Centre as part of its long-term strategy and vision to help conserve its unique environment. The centre aims to provide exposure to and education for employees and hotel guests on the unique biological elements around the resort.
