The ultimate beauty retreat opens in KL
Picture this: 50,000 sq ft dedicated to pure unadulterated pampering in the heart of KL city. The Pamper Zone at Starhill Gallery, officially opened end of last month with fanfare, claims the title of world's largest urban retreat.
Host and YTL Corporation managing director, Tan Sri Dr Francis Yeoh, said, "We were encouraged by the success of our world-acclaimed spas in Pangkor Laut and Tanjong Jara. Beauty and wellness is no small business - women in the UK spent ?10 billion on toiletries last year and in Thailand the luxury spa business raked in US$285. 7 million. And placing this sort of spa facility in a retail centre is also proven theory, as the Harrods Urban Retreat has been to Harrods. Therefore the saying that beauty is skin deep is but a skin deep saying."
The Pamper Zone is the latest in Yeoh's Starhill Gallery pursuits. The new zone will complete the myriad experiences offered at Starhill, which includes Feast Village and Adorn - the world's biggest watch floor - making Starhill a holistic retail institution housing avenues for fashion, art, food, living and now, beauty.
Since the refurbishment of the exterior a couple of years back, designed by New York-based architect David Rockwell, Starhill Gallery has aimed to give consumers a shopping experience unlike any other. And since its reopening last year, the response has been overwhelming amongst locals and tourists alike. Today, it houses several flagship and concept stores, including Asprey and Vertu, which have taken shopping to newer heights.
